Gloria Steinem died on Wednesday 2 September 2026 at her home in New York City, aged 92. Her foundation announced the death on 3 September, saying she “passed away peacefully at her home in New York City, surrounded by some of the many who loved her”, and disclosed no cause. Ms., the magazine she co-founded, confirmed she was 92 and had kept working for equality to the end; the Associated Press reported she had been in declining health and had recently finished a memoir due this autumn.
