Rejected

• Illegal content of any kind.
• Work you have no right to upload. Showing an original you own so that you can sell it is allowed, whoever made it; taking another person’s images and hanging them as your own is not.
• Impersonation of another artist, gallery, or person.
• Spam.
• Promotional flyers, posters, or advertisements presented as artwork.
• Images with severe quality problems — screenshots of work, heavy watermarks, unusable resolution, photographs where the work is not legible.
• Malicious links.
• Sexual or violent content prohibited by our payment and hosting providers.
• Sexual content involving minors, which is reported to the authorities.
• Counterfeit work, or fraudulent claims about authorship, provenance, or sale. Every work says whether you made it or own it: saying you made a work you did not make is a breach, and the work comes down.
• Content that sexualises minors in any medium or style, including drawings and AI-generated images. This is preserved as the law requires and reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
• Content that threatens, harasses or incites violence against an identifiable person or group.
• Use of a real person’s name, likeness or trademark in a way the law prohibits.

Not a reason for rejection

Style, subject, medium, difficulty, commercial appeal, career stage, or a moderator’s opinion of the work. The wall decides what rises. Moderation decides only whether a work may lawfully and legibly be shown.

Nudity and mature work

Nudity and sexual themes have a long history in art and are allowed. Work designed for the purpose of sexual gratification is not, because that is the adult content our payment and hosting providers prohibit. A work with nudity may hang but be excluded from sale through GET HUNG where our payment provider’s rules require it. Moderators decide this on legality and provider rules, not on taste, and tell the artist which rule applied.

Reporting

Anyone can report a work from its page. You do not need an account. Choose the reason, say what is wrong, confirm the report is made in good faith, and give your name and a contact address if you want to hear the outcome. Reports are read by a person. A report never removes a work by itself, and neither does a number of reports. Reporters cannot see other people’s reports. If you are the copyright owner, use the Copyright process, which collects what the law requires. Reporting is for breaches of this page: deliberately false reports, or many groundless ones, lead to your reports being set aside and, for account holders, suspension. What happens when a work is removed

The work leaves THE WALL and the artist page at once, and its paid history stays on record. The artist is told which rule applied and how to appeal, unless the material is illegal or telling them is prohibited. Fees paid on a work removed for breach are not refunded (Placement terms, section 13). A work removed in error is restored with its rank and points. Repeated breaches end the account.
