Placement terms

1. Who you are paying

GET HUNG is operated by Studio Watts LLC. Hangs and boosts are charged by Studio Watts LLC, which operates GET HUNG. The charge appears on your statement as "STUDIO* GET HUNG".

2. Wall boosts

Every hang or boost bid is paid promotion received by GET HUNG. Its full eligible amount adds to the paid total that determines Wall rank. Payments do not earn recognition points. No artist payout applies, regardless of whether the payer is the artist, a gallery, a collector, a fan or another person.

3. What a Wall boost is not

A Wall boost is not a donation or artist patronage. It is not an investment, security, equity interest, loan, or ownership stake of any kind. It confers no right to revenue, profit, sale proceeds or financial return. It does not transfer any interest in the artwork, the artist’s practice or GET HUNG.

4. Amounts and minimums

The minimum initial placement is $5. Once a work is on the Wall, the minimum later boost is $1. Amounts are charged in US dollars. The amount recorded against a placement is the amount actually captured by our payment processor.

5. Paid rank, recognition points and quotes

THE WALL ranks works by their all-time eligible paid totals: the money paid to hang and boost each work. A higher paid total ranks higher. Visits and recognition points never change Wall rank or the payment needed to take a rank.

The active public hang with the most recognition points earns a Love Watts callout. An artwork’s points equal its total artwork-page views plus its artist’s total page views, including historical counts. For example, an artwork with 37 views and an artist page with 120 views has 157 points. Another artwork by that artist with 8 views has 128 points. Each work shares the artist-page count but uses only its own artwork views; views of the artist’s other artworks are not added.

Existing view counts carry into the points total. New artwork-page and artist-page views require human verification and are subject to rate limits. Visits to the same artwork page or the same artist page from one network address count once per UTC day, even across browsers or devices. An artwork page and its artist page count separately. Bots, unverified traffic and requests rejected by these limits do not add views or points.

Recognition points have no cash or redemption value, are not the artwork’s sale price, and do not create an artist payout. Hangs, boosts, buying an original, saving a work, homepage visits and editorial selection do not add points. Paid totals and recognition points do not reset each week.

A “Take #” price is the payment needed to bring a hang’s eligible paid total one dollar above the target rank’s paid total, subject to the applicable minimum. Prices on THE WALL assume a new hang with no paid total. Quotes for an existing work credit the money already paid on that hang. Bids can change ranks during checkout; a quote reserves no position. The full eligible payment adds to the paid total after confirmation and approval, even if the resulting rank changes. It adds no recognition points.

6. When a boost takes effect

A contribution affects position only after payment is confirmed by the payment processor. Returning to the site after checkout does not by itself change a position.

7. Ties

Where two hangs hold exactly the same eligible paid total, the hang that reached that paid total first ranks higher. A hang must exceed another hang’s paid total to pass it.

The Love Watts callout is decided across all active public hangs on THE WALL. A points tie goes to the hang that reached that points total first; an exact time tie is resolved by a stable hang identifier. This uses the time the points total was reached, separately from the paid-total tie rule. Historical totals enter this formula with the same initial timestamp, so equal historical totals use the identifier rule. Later view changes receive new points timestamps. If no eligible hang has a positive points total, there is no callout leader.

8. Refunds

Payments are not refunded. A hang and a boost buy a Wall rank, and that rank is what the payment is for; it is spent when it is paid. This applies whoever paid and whatever happens to the rank afterwards.

Recognition points are unaffected, because payments add no points.

9. Chargebacks

A successful chargeback removes the disputed amount from the recorded amount. If a dispute is later resolved in our favour, the amount is restored.

10. Public credit

Boosters may choose to be credited publicly by name or organisation, or to remain anonymous. Anonymous is the default for boosters who are not signed in. Payer email addresses and payment identifiers are never published.

11. Changes to a boosted work

Once a work has received backing from someone other than its creator, the primary image may not be replaced without review, and the work may not be withdrawn from public view without review. This protects boosters from promoting one work and receiving another.

12. Removing your own work

A work is removed by the account that owns its artist page, from that account’s works page, and by no other route: not by email, not by message, not on request from a third party. Removal takes the work off the Wall at once and off the artist page within a minute.

The hang fee is not refunded on voluntary removal. The score history and the receipt remain on record. Where someone other than the creator has boosted the work, a request to remove it goes to review first (section 11) and the work stays up until the review concludes. A work with a sale in progress must complete or cancel that sale before it can be removed.

13. Moderation and removal

A work may be hidden or removed from public view for policy, legal, rights or provider reasons. The money paid to hang and boost it is not refunded, whatever the reason for the removal and whoever paid it: section 8 applies to a removed work as it does to any other. A work restored after review keeps its paid rank and points.

14. Eligibility

You must be old enough to enter a binding contract in your jurisdiction, and you must be using a payment method you are authorised to use.

15. Exposure and recognition

The weekly exposure benefits are blog-page exposure for #1, possible individual stories for the top three, and eligibility for the weekly roundup for the top ten. Top-three and top-ten inclusion is subject to editorial selection. Holding a rank during checkout does not reserve a weekly feature. Editorial exposure does not reset paid totals or points, and no particular audience size or artwork sale is promised.

The Love Watts callout goes to the hang with the most recognition points, separately from these benefits of paid rank. Discretionary editorial picks remain independent of both paid rank and the points callout. A callout or editorial pick does not change Wall rank or add points.
