Besthoff family gifts Noguchi’s Mississippi Fountain to NOMA

The New Orleans Museum of Art announced on 27 August 2026 that the Besthoff family has given Isamu Noguchi’s granite sculpture Mississippi Fountain (also known as The Mississippi), made for Gordon Bunshaft’s K&B Plaza in 1961–62, in honor of Sydney Besthoff III. NOMA is preparing to install the work in front of the museum this fall; Lee Ledbetter and Associates designed the plan.
