Dolly Parton’s official site and family memorial confirm the singer-songwriter, actor and philanthropist died on 25 August 2026 in Nashville. Representatives told the USA TODAY Network she died at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center after a brief, previously undisclosed cancer battle; the type of cancer was not named. A small private family service will be held at her request, with donations directed to the Imagination Library. Her husband, Carl Dean, died in March 2025.
