Edouard Kopp named director of Cornell’s Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art

Cornell University announced that Edouard Kopp, chief curator of the Menil Drawing Institute in Houston, will become the Richard J. Schwartz Director of the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art effective November 1, 2026. He succeeds Jessica Levin Martinez (now at Corning Museum of Glass); Ellen Avril has served as interim director. Provost Kavita Bala cited his work expanding access and interdisciplinary engagement. At the Menil he oversaw exhibitions, education, and a drawing collection spanning the 16th century to today.
