Gagosian exits London’s Burlington Arcade and plans Basel departure

The Art Newspaper reported on 31 July 2026 that Gagosian vacated 28–29 Burlington Arcade in London earlier that month after programming the two-storey space since October 2023 (16 shows; final Christo and Jeanne-Claude–related display closed 18 July). A gallery spokesperson confirmed plans to leave Rheinsprung 1 in Basel “in the months ahead” while exploring other Swiss real estate; the Basel room opened as a 2019 Art Basel pop-up and staged 17 shows. ARTnews confirmed Mayfair spaces at Grosvenor Hill and Davies Street remain, and noted parallel mega-gallery footprint shifts including David Zwirner’s exit from 34 East 69th Street and Pace putting Hanover Square on the London rental market.
